Why are immigration psychological evaluations useful?
These evaluations can add significant value to your immigration case. This assessment documents a client’s entire immigration story, including their native country conditions, relationships, and physical & mental health. The report can provide an immigration officer with an accurate picture of both their current situation as well as the physical, mental, emotional, and familial impacts of separation or deportation.
what we do
We provide specialized assessments for the following immigration applications:
U Visa
For applicants with knowledge/experience of a serious crime
Evaluate the impacts of the crime and assess the extent of physical, mental, and emotional consequences. This client must be willing to assist the police in investigation and/or prosecution related to the crime.
T Visa
For applicants with direct experience being human trafficked.
Evaluate the impacts of the experience on the client, and assess the extent of the physical, mental, and emotional consequence. This client must be willing to assist the police in investigation and/or prosecution related to the crime.
*Note: T Visas are very similar to U Visas, but T Visas specifically focus on those that have been human trafficked.
Asylum
For applicants facing persecution or mistreatment in their country of origin
Understand and document the physical, mental, and emotional impacts of mistreatment due to political or religious beliefs, ethnicity, gender, or sexual orientation. Assess the risk and severity of these impacts if continued.
VAWA
For applicants who have experienced abuse by US citizen spouse
Document the unique experiences of the applicant and assess the psychological impacts of the violence. For clients of all genders, both men and women.
Extreme Hardship
For applicants whose separation would negatively impact a relative
Communicate the psychological impact of deportation not only on the client, but their family members, including spouse, children, and parents. For clients whose relatives would suffer extreme hardship if separated.
Language and Translation Services
We offer complementary Spanish translation services for those clients that need it. For all other languages, we have partnered with a local small business to offer translation services, at a small additional cost.

Assessment Sessions
We will meet 1:1 with the applicant for 2 90-minute sessions. These sessions will take place virtually to allow the applicant to be in a comfortable, inviting, and familiar space, as they tell their story and share their experiences.
Receive Report
Your assessor will compile a comprehensive report of their findings, painting a clear picture of the unique symptoms and story of the applicant, that is ready to be submitted to a USCIS officer.
Requesting CORRECTIONS (IF NEEDED)
You and/or your legal representative will have the opportunity to review the completed report, and request any needed corrections. This is a complementary services to ensure you are receiving the highest level of quality, and support, while working with us.
Frequently Asked Questions about Immigration psychological evaluations

After the interviews are conducted, report writing can take between 2-4 weeks. If your report is needed sooner, we can expedite the writing process for a small fee. A complete overview of the process and timeline is provided to you in our General Information Guide.

We will be our most objective when assessing and writing if we do not have an ongoing therapeutic alliance with you. To avoid any bias and conflicts of interest, we can only be your ongoing therapist once your immigration case has resolved.

Often times, trauma and psychological harm can leave no visible scars on a person, so being able to objectively and clearly paint a picture of the ‘invisible wounds’ you have can be crucial to your application. Psychological evaluations are used to make visible, in plain language, the complexity of your experience.
